Who we are
Airtime TekeTeke (“we”, “us”) is a Kenyan airtime top-up service. You reach us by dialling *831# on your phone, by paying through Paybill 7777727, by calling or WhatsApping +254 713735116, or by visiting us at Unga House, Westlands, Nairobi. This page explains what information we collect when you use those channels or this website, and how we use it. Last updated 25 September 2026.
Information we collect
USSD sessions (*831#). When you dial our code, your mobile network operator (Safaricom, Airtel, Telkom or Faiba) connects the session and passes us the phone number you're dialling from, so we know which line to top up. We don't see your PIN, your network password or anything else on your device — the USSD channel only ever gives us the number and the menu options you select.
Paybill payments (7777727). When you pay through M-Pesa or another mobile money provider using our Paybill number, that provider (not us) handles your payment details and shares only the transaction reference, amount and phone number needed to complete your top-up. We never see or store your M-Pesa PIN.
Phone and WhatsApp. If you call or message +254 713735116, we see the number you contacted us from and whatever you choose to tell our team, so we can help with your query.
Website analytics. This site uses Google Tag Manager to load basic analytics so we can see which pages are useful and fix ones that aren't. That means your browser may receive a small analytics cookie and share standard technical details (page visited, rough location from your IP, device/browser type) with Google. We don't use this to identify you personally.
Location, only if you ask for directions. The “Get directions” button on our contact map only asks your browser for your location when you click it, so we (or rather, Google Maps) can plot a route from where you are to our office. If you don't click it, or you decline the browser's location prompt, we never receive your location — the map just opens without it.
How we use it
To complete the airtime top-up or Paybill transaction you asked for, on the network and number you specified.
To answer calls, WhatsApp messages and other queries sent to our contact number.
To understand, in aggregate, how people use this website, so we can improve it.
To meet legal and regulatory obligations, including those under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your phone number for marketing you haven't asked for.
Who we share it with
Your mobile network operator and mobile money provider, because they're the ones who actually move the airtime or money — we only ever see what they pass to us.
Google, in a limited way, through Google Tag Manager (site analytics) and the embedded Google Map on our contact page. Google's own privacy policy governs what they do with that data.
Regulators or law enforcement, only where Kenyan law requires it.
We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Transaction records (USSD and Paybill top-ups) are kept only as long as needed to resolve disputes and meet our regulatory record-keeping obligations, then deleted or anonymised. Call and WhatsApp conversations are kept only as long as needed to handle your query.
Your rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it for a legal reason. To make a request, call or WhatsApp us on +254 713735116, or write to us at Unga House, Westlands, Nairobi. You can also lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
